Christopher Reiger, PhD

Dr. Chris Reiger is a licensed clinical psychologist at Boston Child Study Center – Maine who works with children, adolescents, and parents. He provides individual, family, and group psychotherapy to address challenges related to anxiety, depression, ADHD, autism, trauma and adjustment, emotion dysregulation, and disruptive behaviors.

Dr. Reiger’s approach is warm, collaborative, and grounded in evidence-based treatment. His work draws from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and family-systems approaches. He considers behavior within the context of development, relationships, environment, and lived experience, helping young people and families build skills, strengthen relationships, and create conditions for success.

Dr. Reiger brings more than two decades of experience across clinical, educational, and community settings, with a particular focus on school-based mental health and trauma-informed care. He has developed and led trauma-informed programs and supported the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) across multiple school districts. His work emphasizes elevating youth voice, strengthening community partnerships, and improving the implementation of evidence-based practices.

Dr. Reiger earned his B.A. from Northwestern University and his M.A. and Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Miami University, where he trained at the Center for School-Based Mental Health Programs and The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP).

Cultural humility and responsiveness are central to Dr. Reiger’s practice. He strives to create a therapeutic relationship in which clients feel understood, respected, and able to bring their identities, values, and lived experiences into the work.

Outside of clinical work, Dr. Reiger enjoys exploring Maine’s coastline, playing tennis, hiking, and spending time with family and friends.
