Dr. Libby Collier is a counseling psychology postdoctoral fellow at the Boston Child Study Center. She works with children, adolescents, and young adults using an integrative, evidence-based approach, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and psychodynamic principles. Dr. Collier’s background in sociology and training in neuropsychological assessment supports her commitment to providing holistic, comprehensive care. She integrates her client’s identities, sociocultural contexts, and developmental history into treatment to foster meaningful, lasting change aligned with their goals. She collaborates closely with caregivers, school administrators, and other important members of a client’s community to strengthen their overall functioning and promote growth across settings.
Dr. Collier received her B.A. in English and sociology from the University of Vermont, her M.A. and Ed.M. in mental health counseling from Columbia University, and her Ph.D. in counseling psychology from Northeastern University. Her clinical training spans a variety of inpatient and outpatient settings including Mount Sinai Hospital, McLean-Franciscan Children’s Hospital, Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School, and Boston Children’s Hospital. She completed her predoctoral internship at Cambridge Health Alliance/Harvard Medical School.
Her research focuses on patient-centered care and positive youth development for adolescents involved in the juvenile justice system and inpatient psychiatric treatment. Throughout her graduate training, Dr. Collier has served as a mentor, teaching assistant, and instructor to undergraduate, master’s level, and doctoral students, and enjoys teaching. Outside of work, she is most likely running and listening to a podcast, trying out a new bakery, or spending time with her family, friends, dog, and cat.
