Elizabeth Machado, is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker at the Boston Child Study Center, who also maintains licensure in Connecticut (LCSW-Licensed Clinical Social Worker). Prior to joining the Boston Child Study Center team, Elizabeth held a variety of positions within the mental health field. These positions include as an advisor/residential counselor at Dynamy, an internship gap year program, as the Assistant Program Director at Cottage Hill Academy overseeing the ICBAT/CBAT latency unit. From there she transitioned to the Susan Wayne Center of Excellence, a long term residential facility providing mental health treatment to children, adolescents and young adults with developmental/intellectual disabilities and mental health diagnosis. She was able to transition from her role as a clinician to assistant clinical director during her time there. In her role as the Assistant Program Director at ACCS in Worcester, Elizabeth was able to partner with the Department of Mental Health to provide services to adults with severe mental illness as they integrated into the community after hospitalization.

Elizabeth brings her training in ARC (attachment, regulation and competency), SMART (sensory, motor arousal, regulation treatment), trauma informed care, as well as a strengths-based, person centered approach to the therapeutic relationships she develops. This also includes, maintaining cultural curiosity and a willingness to find creative ways to ensure evidenced based treatment is accessible, and allows for treatment to be individualized. Elizabeth has experience working with ages spanning from latency into adulthood, with the majority of her work being with pre adolescents through young adulthood. She has training and experience working with trauma/complex trauma, severe mental illness, developmental/intellectual disabilities and mental illness, survivors of commercial sexual exploitation, first generation adolescents and young adults as well as suicidal and non-suicidal self injury.

Elizabeth earned her BA in Liberal Arts from Eastern Nazarene College, and her MSW from Wheelock College.
