Dr. Jackie Shapiro is a Clinical Psychologist and Directs Group Therapy Services and the College Admissions Coaching program at the Boston Child Study Center. Dr. Shapiro specializes in individual and group cognitive behavior therapy and dialectical behavior therapy for adolescents and young adults. In addition to her work with BCSC, Dr. Shapiro is an Assistant Psychologist at the McLean Hospital, 3East Adolescent DBT Partial Hospital Program and an Instructor in Psychology in the Department of Psychiatry at Harvard Medical School.
Dr. Shapiro received her Bachelor of Science and Master of Arts degrees from Northwestern University, before earning her Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the Derner Institute of Advanced Psychological Studies at Adelphi University. She completed her predoctoral psychology internship at North Central Bronx Hospital and was a Beckwitt-Hughey postdoctoral fellow in adolescent clinical psychology at the McLean Hospital, 3East Adolescent DBT Continuum.
Dr. Shapiro’s clinical interests include depressive and anxiety disorders, emotion dysregulation and personality disorders, bipolar and related disorders, trauma, relationship difficulties, grief and bereavement, gender and sexuality, creativity, and college mental health. She has experience in dialectical behavior therapy, cognitive behavior therapy, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and mindfulness.
