Dr. Johnson is a Licensed Psychologist and Certified Health Service Provider. He specializes in evidence-based cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) and dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) for youth and adults with mood, anxiety, and substance use problems.
Dr. Johnson received his Bachelor of Arts in Psychology at University of Massachusetts Amherst before completing his Master of Arts and Doctorate in Clinical Psychology at University of Colorado Boulder. He completed his predoctoral internship at McLean Hospital/Harvard Medical School and completed his postdoctoral fellowship in the Veteran’s Administration Boston Healthcare System.
Dr. Johnson has received extensive training in providing evidence-based therapies such as CBT, ACT, DBT, and DBT PE, for a wide range of difficulties, including bipolar disorder, depression, substance use disorders, trauma-related disorders and anxiety disorders. In addition to his work with the Boston Child Study Center, Dr. Johnson is a staff psychologist at Massachusetts General Hospital’s West End Clinic, providing evidence-based treatments for young adults and adults with substance use and co-occurring mental health difficulties. Dr. Johnson is also an Instructor in Psychology at Harvard Medical School and he has published and presented internationally on his research examining risk and resilience factors for mood disorders in adolescents and adults.
